Throughout my career, I have played enthusiastically on both sides of the media/public relations divide. It’s a tricky line to walk but I like to think I’ve become pretty good at it.
As a long-time travel writer, my wanderings are sometimes sponsored by tourism boards and I sometimes work on a contract basis for various organizations within the tourism industry. Most recently I helped the Canadian Tourism Commission with their communications needs during the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
However, what I write on this blog is independent of my professional obligations and/or duties. My opinions can’t be bought: if I write it here, I’m telling it to you fair and square and because I think it’s worth sharing. I alone control my blog’s content.
This is the way I worked in the print-media world; it is how I will continue to work in the online world.
When I offer a prize, it is because I have solicited it or it has been offered and it supports a post I already intended to write. I do not accept payment to post a prize on my site.
If you enter a contest on the site by leaving a comment, I will not use your e-mail address for any other reason than to contact you if you are the winner. I will not sell or otherwise compromise your personal information.
I will accept payment to post permanent sponsored ad links on my blog; however, I make absolutely no promises about what or whether I will write about a particular sponsor.
My goal is to blog with integrity. If you have any concerns about what you read on my site–or if you would like to buy an ad–please feel free to talk about it with me. I can be reached at thesebootstravel [at] gmail.com.
