Hell’s Kitchen party lights up Whistler’s Araxi tonight; win a cookbook

Enter to win one of three Top Table cookbooks!

Written by: Julie Ovenell-Carter

FOX’s highly addictive brain-candy series Hell’s Kitchen (featuring chef-tyrant Gordon Ramsay) is winding up its sixth season tonight, and this round’s lucky winner gets a plum gig as head chef at swanky Araxi (under executive chef James Walt) just in time for the 2010 Winter Games.

If you can’t make it to tonight’s viewing party in Whistler, here’s the perfect consolation prize: the brand-new Araxi cookbook–or one of the other two glossy beauties in the Top Table cookbook series, Blue Water Cafe Seafood or The West Cookbook.

Valued at $50 each, these are as much fun for your eyes as they are for your palate. If you know these best-in-class restaurants, you know the calibre of recipes we’re talking about here; and if you don’t–well, let’s just say it’s time you did.

Tell me why you simply must get your hands on one of these cookbooks and on Friday, Oct. 16 I’ll do a random draw at 8 pm.

First name I pull gets their first choice; second person, the choice of the two remaining books; and third person still gets a great prize.

Good luck!

I would love to get my hands on these cookbooks because let’s face it, I’m in a cooking rut. The seasons are changing and I’m out of practice for fall and need some inspiration for what to make. Plus I love all the fab local chefts we have and find their cookbooks tend to be more relevant to me.

Plus I’d love some ideas for what to make when it’s just me and my husband and we’re not eating with the kids!

Pick me pick me pick me. I love cookbooks and who else do you know would have a cook off with Atlantic and Pacific salmon steaks and still end up in a draw with the results?

Okay don’s answer that but I love cooking and Canadian cookbooks would surely feed my passion for local foods (I am using local broadly here).

    You East coast bud Martha

I would love to be able to create one of West’s amazing desserts, if the cook book has my favorite dressing I won’t have to ask Gourmet Magazine for it!

YUM – let’s just say if I DON’T win, I’ll probably go buy one or more of these myself. They look awesome!! Thanks for the great post and contest.

I’m not a whiz in the kitchen, but I do love reading and trying out new cookbooks. My husband will love you. Why else should you pick me…hmmm, how about a little haiku:

    No one would call me
    Julia Child (no way)!!
I still love to cook :)

I want the Araxi cookbook because I would love to have a book that teaches me not only how to cook with local ingredients, but also teaches me about the variety of local ingredients available!!

Plus, it would look pretty on my shelf.

OK….first I have to wonder WHO all of these Julie’s are? Now that I’ve got that off my chest….I’m married to the world’s greatest cook (well next to Braddo) and she loves experimenting on company and this would make for an awesome Christmas present!

When we aren’t dining out, we are dining in. Blue Water and West are both favourites of ours and the cookbooks would bring back many fond memories.
Haven’t been to Araxi yet, but it is definitely on the list…

We make the same things over and over again…it’s time to expand the repertoire! Great restaurants have great recipes. I’d love to get a new cookbook to try some different food out!
