How do I love thee, YVR? Let me count the ways.

All aboard the new Canada Line: YVR-to-downtown in less than half an hour!

Written by: Julie Ovenell-Carter

I always love coming home via Vancouver International (aka YVR)–surely the world’s most beautiful airport.

Yesterday my love reached a new level when I made it through Customs in less than three minutes thanks to a new electronic processing system: if you travel on a Canadian passport, you can just flash your passport under the reader, scan your declaration card–and you’re outta there.

After we picked up our bags–15 minutes at the carousel–we headed out the front door, up two flights of escalators and right onto the new Canada Line which, after a four minute wait on the platform and 24 minutes on the train, delivered us to Waterfront Station, a few blocks from the Coastal Link Ferry dock.

We touched down at YVR just before 4 pm, were downtown by 5:10 and homeward bound to Bowen Island at 5:45 pm.

No car. No cab fare. No sweat.

Sweet.

Welcome home and I totally concur on the beauty of YVR. My favourite airport in the world.

Thanks Chris! Have you had a chance to ride the rails to YVR yet? Someone who travels as much as you is going to love it!

And it was such a pleasure to meet you on the dock and ride home with you!

Ah yes, that was quite the welcoming committee. What a wonderful place (and people) to come home to!
