Will work for Olympics tickets...©VANOC/COVAN
Written by: Julie Ovenell-CarterHey Canada: if you missed the first go-round for Olympics tickets last fall, you’ve got one more chance.
Starting at 10 am on June 6, 2009, you can get in line–or rather online–at www.vancouver2010.com for a chance to snag tickets (150,000 of them–to all Vancouver- and Whistler-based events, including the much-anticipated Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the gold-medal hockey game.
Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and this time it’s not a lottery system: instead, you will be directed to a virtual waiting-room. From there, you’ll be given the random chance to proceed to the ticketing site, where you can purchase up to four separate events, with a limit of either four or eight tickets per event. (If you want to order tickets to more than four events, you’ll need to start a new transaction.)
Apparently you can also buy tickets by phone at 1.800.TICKETS (1.800.842.5387). (Hmmm: wonder if that gives you any sort of advantage over the poor schmos milling around in the virtual waiting room?). And if you’re hard-of-hearing, there’s a TDD/TTY service available at 604.629.7140.
You’ll find the details here, but one important point to note: if you haven’t already, you’d be wise to set up a ticketing account before June 6 so you’ll be ready to move quickly if the Gods smile upon you and you find you can actually grab some tickets…
