TheseBoots reader Paul won a $50 gift certificate to Zin on Robson
Written by: Julie Ovenell-CarterCongratulations to Kamloops reader Paul DeVries who entered the random draw for a $50 gift certificate to sample the great new $2 tapas menu on offer between 4 and 7 pm at Zin on Robson until April 30.
Paul’s recipe for the perfect martini? ”Shaken gently. Gin all the way. One olive or two?! I can have two? Definitely!”
Thanks to all who entered, and if you didn’t win this one, check out my new contest for a $75 gift certificate to Miku, a luxe Japanese restaurant with a new tasting menu in time for the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.

on March 13th, 2009Bombay Sapphire, shaken, straight up, olives. Extra olives instead of an appetizer maximizes the ivestment!

1. Shaken
2. Vodka (Gin tastes like I imagine perfume would, if I drank perfume)
3. One or two olives … unless of course its a girly martini, which I prefer.

on March 20th, 20091. Stirred, never “bruise” the liquor you know!!!
2. Vodka, with a good brand – the most kick with little bite!
3. Olives NO! – never destroy the taste of the drink with what is usually “canned” product. Perhaps some high quality Spanish, Italian or Portugese olives might enhance the drink but are better eaten on their own.
Regards!!!
Lorne
on March 20th, 2009No doubt about it- shaken – with gin – premium only like beefeater’s reserve or bombay otherwise it tastes like piant thinner and finally – 1 olive – its about the drink not the garnish.
